"ATHEIST AND A STRANGER"

There's a little country town
somewhere in Tennessee;
where the population there
is five-hundred thirty-three.

Where the farmers grow aplenty,
and the folks live off the crops.
A sheriff and his deputy,
are the only local cops.

The mayor is a farmer,
also preacher at the church,
where most the people gather
to worship and to search.

Tranquillity was everywhere
with goodwill all around;
until a dark cloud brought despair..
an atheist moved to town!

He caught the people by surprise,
but still with open arms,
they welcomed him an wished him well,
and wished him best of luck;
until one day they heard this man,
from the tailgate of his truck;

He was dwelling on religion,
claiming God did not exist,
and the people whom had gathered there,
were raising every  fist !

They taunted him with anger
with hopes to change his mind,
but this went on for years,
and no reform did they find.

It would take an act far greater
than by Christians of this town,
something that would shake him
to turn his sense around.

And Lo and behold,
with the atheist in his truck...
was winding down a back-way
when a stranger found him stuck!

He had driven off the road
as if some other hand...
had turned his truck into
a pit of sinking sand!

"Help me! Help me! Help me,
I 'm too young to die!"
Up went the words so desperate,
up went his woeful cry.

And as he sat there screaming,
that he was sinking fast,
the stranger that had found him
tossed a rope for him to grasp.

With out-streached arms he grabbed it,
and was pulled out by that line;
and his first words that were spoken:
"Thank God you came in time!"

But the stranger that had saved him,
was nowhere to be seen;
as quick as his appearance,
he had vanished from the scene!

EPILOGUE:
"Chalk-up" one for Jesus for this tale could be true,
and someday if you're sinking, He's there to help you too!
