Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed!

I WAS THERE WHEN THEY CRUCIFIED

JESUS, WERE YOU?

I told a lie just yesterday
Jesus was chained in the garden
Swearing o
n oath my proud display
Jesus healed the ear of the warden

Coveting my neighbors backyard pool
He was dragged from the place he loved
I cursed someone called them a fool
Inside the Sanhedrin he was shoved

My thoughtless hapless vengeance driven
False witness was borne against him
Unthankful for my bounty given
They punched his eyes till they grew dim

Proud of my achievements won
Herod laughed in his battered face
My lude remarks tales spun
He's humiliated dragged from that place

I'm tired from my day's labour
Back to Pilate's palace
My soft couch I'm set to savour
No rest from Jeering throngs malice

In defence of self lashed I to hurt
Jesus was flogged and flayed
Justifying innocence would blurt
As Pilate's washed hands were displayed

Thirty Nine times they tore his flesh
With fever they raised the whip
Till bloodied battered yet shy of death
Frenzied men rendered it without a quip

I've schemed schemes carried them out
He forgave each cruel act
Pharisee's Sadducee's laws did flout
While his heart reeled knowing this fact

In my mind I've plotted to kill
Jesus accepted his fate
As Pilate decreed " crucify at will"
He took up his cross, despite the weight

Though my trials have been long and hard
He walked in agony through the crowd
Sometimes I feel as lazy as lard
Not even a drop was he allowed

I've whined and uttered many a groan
Jesus fell 'neath that heavy cross
Reaping the foolish seeds sown
His mother grieved her certain loss

Longing for tree's and rolling hills
Jesus climbed one called "The Skull"
Beaches water, heaps of thrills
Angry mob settled to a lull

I've lusted for another love
The hammer it did pound
Wished for finer things from above
As his Cross dropped into the ground!

The Lamb of God was slain that day
Yet forgiveness graced his eyes
The temple curtain tore away
Truth and Grace for you and I

He died from a broken heart
Even science had revered that true
I was there when they crucified JESUS!
Were You?
