I'm off to hear the Preacher, mom
He's on the shore of Galilee, they say
Take good care my son and listen well -
Come and tell me every thing, that happens today

Take this little basket with your lunch
That I've prepared for you, my son
Kiss your mother and say goodbye
I'm late, mom already, I'll have to run

My, how many people are gathered here
Around the Preacher, that beautiful day
I'll have to squeeze through all these people
I know I will make it ,I'll just find a way

Now I'm sitting next to Andrew
Very close to Jesus' feet
He winked at me, can you believe
His pretty smile was oh so sweet

I'll never remember all the miracles
He healed all the sick and the lame
I promised mom to tell her everything
It would have been a lot better if only she came

It's getting late and I am getting hungry
I have my lunch, but I don't want to eat alone
I looked around and I watched the crowd
But no one else had brought their own

I'm sure He winked at me again
As HE took my lunch into His hands
He thanked the Father for the food
What happened then, I still don't understand

He broke my bread and fish for every one to eat
He fed that crowd there on the shore
Mother will never believe me, if I say that
My fish and bread became more and more and more

Leftovers filled twelve baskets
So I'll take some home for mom -
She will never believe me, I'm afraid
I sure wish that she had come

Mom did believe me, every word I said
She packed another lunch for her and me
 Son, I'll go with you in the morning
This Wonderworker I want to see

Mom, when you pack a basket for your children
And send them off to play
Make sure you've packed everlasting food
For them to share with some one along the way
