"Shared Moments"

The afternoon sun slipped around my shoulders,
just like your arms used to do.
As the Fall North winds hummed sweet lullabies,
my fantasies carried me straight to you.

It felt so good to be next to you again,
having your hands cup my face.
Feeling your breath flow through my hair,
as we danced at a slow romantic pace.

We took a walk around the old pond,
and lay on the grass so warm and soft.
Waded barefoot in the water's edge,
climbed high to the barn's familiar loft.

You rolled out the blanket on top of the hay,
and then reached and took my hand.
The view is amazing here above the trees,
for the Autumn hues had now painted the land.

Nature's golds and reds and oranges too,
reflected their artwork from within your eyes.

You turned and faced me and smiled so sweet,
and I felt the flutter of the butterflies.

You propped yourself up on one elbow,
and leaned in for longing kiss.
Our lips touched and I found myself,
falling deep into a utopian abyss.

Every movement flowed so even and perfect,
our whispers invaded the air.
The passion and desires for only one another,

a lost moment I thought we'd never again share.

Grandma...Grandma...wake up Grandma,
you fell asleep out here on the swing.
You must have been having a really nice dream,
cause you were humming the song Grandpa used to sing.

The sun had set and there was a chill in the air,

but I felt a peacefulness on the inside.

It was the same feeling I had on the day,

that I so joyfully became your bride.
