.Is God
Showing Through
Acts 1:8
You shall receive power when
the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be
witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
A story is told of a
little girl who turned to her mother on the way home
from church; she said, "Mommy, the preacher's
sermon this morning confused me."
The mother said, "Oh!
Why is that?"
The girl replied, "Well,
he said that God is bigger than we are. Is that
true?"
"Yes, that's true,"
the mother replied.
"He also said that
God lives within us. Is that true too?"
Again the mother
replied, "Yes."
"Well," said the
girl. "If God is bigger than us, and He lives in
us, shouldn't He show through?"
So how do you know that
“the
Holy Spirit has come upon you,”
and “God is showing
through?” Do as Jesus said,
“ask,”
“If you then, being
evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your heavenly Father give the
Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”(Luke
11:13) If you have
“asked,”
then you have
received;
the only ‘proof’ you need is God’s promise,
“your
heavenly Father [will] give the Holy Spirit to those
who ask Him.”
Either you believe Him, or you don’t!!!
My friend, I want you to
understand that much of the world is not
interested in that black book you carry, called
the Bible; there is no use beating them over
the head with it. The only Bible some unbelievers
will read, is ‘you.’
Is Jesus showing through? Are you a
“witnesses
for Jesus, to the end of the earth?”
You, as a Christian, should
be living in such a way that will provoke
curiosity in the unsaved. The
“power”
Jesus promised, will enable you to live in a
way that they will come to you and ask, “What
makes you tick?” Then, you can say to them, “Ah,
let me introduce you to The Man!” Then, and
only then, will God’s Word make sense to
them.
By living in a manner that
Jesus “shows through,” you will open the door of
opportunity to witness to the unsaved. A
holy life will produce the deepest impression;
lighthouses blow no horns, they only shine.
Remember that you are called to be a witness,
not
a lawyer.
My friend, a living
Jesus, in a living man, is a living
sermon; what kind of a sermon are you
preaching? You would be well advised to trim
your lamp more often, so it will give off less
smoke, and shed more light.
Remember it is your pastor's job to fill the
pulpit, it’s your job to fill the
church.
Now I’m going to get down
where the rubber meets the road and I want you to be
honest with yourself, remember,
you’re not fooling God.
Are you a “witnesses
[for Jesus]?”
Do you have a
burden for the lost,
or have you lost the
burden?
