They walk among the rest of us,
and one can't always tell.
But if you look within their eyes,
you'll see their recollection of hell.
Their hands have carried weapons,
on their bellies they've crawled through mud,
They've smelled the stench of death,
they know the price of freedom is blood.
No matter where it was they fought,
they done it for you and me.
They put their lives in harms way,
to keep Ol' Glory free.
The stars and stripes forever wave,
the Eagle will always fly.
Most carry their stories silently,
about their buddies they watched die.
They didn't have time to be afraid,
they knew fear would get them killed.
So they met their enemy face to face,
in such places as Hamburger Hill.
Unless you've walked in their boots,
and carried their weapon far.
Just know what they done for me and you,
left them with lifetime scars.
One day a year we've set aside,
to honor our Veteran's of War.
We know each of them would do it again,
as bravely as they done before.
They don't need to be known as heroes,
nor do they want medals that shine.
They want their Nation to welcome them home,
with an open and understanding mind.
No matter what you think of war;
Our troops needs your support.
Hug a Vet, and Thank Them for
your continued Freedom
